Former "Gasthaus zur Krone", market place No 24

The most elegant guesthouse was formerly the "Krone", in which Emperor Joseph II. and Bavarian king Max I. Joseph stayed overnight. The successful hotel owner had a gilded medallion mounted above the middle window in the 1st storey showing a profile of the emperor and an inscription. Individual letters are raised and if they are read as Roman numerals you can see the date 1781. This so-called chronological engraving states that Joseph II was accommodated here on a second occasion in 1781 after his first stay in 1777.
